You can even email notes right into it (they give you a special email address) which I use for things like tech newsletters and stuff. No matter what it is you want to capture and store, no matter what platform, they have a way to quickly and easily do it. Thats The value prop that EN brings to the table. It should be fast and easy and available everywhere. If you practice GTD like me, you need a trusted repository for capturing your thoughts, items, todos, etc. You can do that with a wiki I suppose but it's more friction than is worthwhile IMO. I regularly scan documents and use EN to manage a paperless office for instance. So much of what I capture in a given day is much more than that. Capturing TEXT is a fairly trivial problem. Capturing anything outside of a traditional desktop context is going to suuuuuck. You'll have to roll your own infrastructure including backups.

Yes a full text search and wiki linking interface would get a fairly large chunk of the essential functionality done. I would respectfully like to posit that perhaps you haven't fully thought through what makes EN and its ilk different. Beorg (iOS) is great but still pretty short on features. That _might_ be what finally gets me off EN but the mobile experience just isn't there yet. I dunno, I've tried em all and EN is still the best IMO. It's got a very usable api to integrate it into any part of your workflow they don't cover. Scan documents (and then find them with OCR).

If you can't give me what I want in less than a few seconds you go in the bin.ĮN has the advantage of being available on Mac and Windows (and Linux w/ Wine), allows you to capture from literally anywhere and has a fantastic and fast search. I need to be able to get a piece of knowledge on the go fast. Notion covers most of the bases but its an electron app and its SLOOOOOOOOOThats a dealbreaker for me. I prefer a nested hierarchy which I can get with tags in EN. OneNote is fine but I don't like they way it handles organizing data. Only ones that come close are OneNote and Notion. I've yet to find anything that touches it in terms of features and functionality. Yes they have had some problems and I have even tried to jump ship (as recently as last fall when I gave DEVONThink a go). Many other features are provided, you can see most of them in the dedicated section.I find it weird that no one is mentioning that this article is written by an EN competitor.

Moreover, for the compatible formats, you can reopen the equation to modify it : the LaTeX code is kept inside. The result is automatically cropped and you can drag and drop it in any application, in the desired format (certainly PDF).

With LaTeXiT, you only focus on your equation. This is to get rid of that burden that LaTeXiT was created. restart from the beginning if you want to modify a little thing in the equation.īalking is forgiven.

delete or backup the files you have just used. But to be honest, you don't really want to go though all of the following steps just to illustrate a document : Then you are given a great power to compose equations, from the simplest to the most complex ones, with a perfect result. You are maybe familiar with the LaTeX language. However, its large set of features is a reason to see it as an editor this is the goal in fact. This is not the plain truth, since LaTeXiT is "simply" a graphical interface above a LaTeX engine. Should LaTeXiT be categorized, it would be an equation editor.
